BioD-Rolls are natural and biodegradable coconut fiber (coir) logs used for effective erosion control. These rolls are made from coir fiber densely packed into a tubular outer netting made with bristle coir twine with 2 in. by 2in. openings.
The BioD-Roll coir logs are available in three different diameters. The 12-in diameter coir log is available in 7 lbs./ ft2 density (BioD-Roll 30L) as well as 9 lbs./ ft2 density (BioD-Roll 30H). The 16 in. diameter coir log (BioD-Roll 40) and the 20 in. diameter coir log (BioD-Roll 50) are available only in 9 lbs./ ft2 density.
The coir fiber in these coir logs are also a great medium for plant growth. After instillation, native plants can be planted on or around these coir logs where plants get sufficient water. With time, the plants will grow on the roll and the sediment deposited around the coir rolls, create an excellent vegetation habitat. This mature vegetation provides permanent stability and provide excellent wildlife habitats.
The great advantage of BioD-Rolls is that the is the strength and durable of the outer net made of bristle coir twines. Also, BioD-Roll coir logs are densely filled with mattress coir fiber which provide strong support. These rolls are great tools because they last over five years providing erosion resistance and supporting establishment of sustainable vegetation.
