FABRIC ATTACHED COIR BLOCK SYSTEM.
An Excellent Tool For Vegetated Soil Lift Construction
BioD-Block™ is a patented product in USA, India, and Sri Lanka.
BioD-Block™ system is completely biodegradable and does not contain any synthetic materials to harm wildlife.
The BioD-Block™ coir block system is a versatile tool for soil bioengineering applications. It consists of a densely packed, mattress coir fiber block (9.8 ft. long) attached to a bristle coir woven fabric (BioD-Mat 70). It is an excellent tool to easily construct a vegetated soil lift. The BioD-Block system is available in two heights (12” and 16”). The 12” tall coir block is 5” thick and the 16” tall coir block is 7” thick. Both sizes have ~10’ long coir blocks. The fabric is connected to the coir block on three sides leaving the remaining side open to fill with dirt. Each BioD-Block™ has a female and a male end that creates a strong connection between blocks and avoids failure at the connection.
RoLanka further improved the BioD-Block™ system adding 9 invisible planting holes through the middle of each 9.8-ft long coir block. Each hole is spaced 9 to 12” apart. Removable coir fiber plugs are easily pulled out to expose the planting holes. Live plant cuttings can be planted through these holes during or after construction. The tightly packed coir block provides strong support at the face of the lift while protecting the soil behind the coir block.

Advantages of BioD-BlockTM system
- The thick coir block in the coir block system provides constant layer heights.
- The attached fabric with coir block makes the vegetated soil-lift construction easier.
- The thick fiber block provides much higher protection to constructed soil lift.
- Completely biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
- Coir block will provide protection for 6 – 7 years while coir fabric lasts 4 – 6 years.
- Provide aesthetically pleasing applications.
