BioD-Watl™ coir wattles are versatile sediment control devices. RoLanka BioD-Watl™ coir wattles are made from cleaned mattress coir fiber, which is uniformly and lightly packed into a high strength bristle coir twine netting (2 in x 2 in opening). The lightly packed coir fiber allows cleaner water to pass through leaving sediment behind. Flexible, easy-to-use, reusable, natural and biodegradable BioD-Watl™ is an excellent sediment control structure for construction and landscaping projects. BioD-Watl™ is available in 6-in, 9-in, and 12-in diameters and 10-ft, and 15-ft lengths.
The excellent filtering ability and the superior durability of coir fibers, compared to other natural fibers, makes BioD-Watl™ a better alternative than straw wattles and wood fiber logs. The biodegradable, yet durable netting in BioD-Watl™ is not only environmentally friendly, but also lasts longer than plastic netting in other types of wattles. Coir wattles can be used in streambanks with low flow velocity. Coir wattles provide superior performance than straw wattles.

Performance comparison of coir wattles and straw wattles.
Coir wattles provide the most versatile BMP’s for sediment control during construction. They work well with heavy equipment. They are strong, durable, natural, biodegradable, environmentally-friendly and economical.

Difference between coir logs and coir wattles:
Even though they are similar in appearance, they are for completely different applications. Coir logs (rolls) are densely-packed to provide strong support and should be used in streambanks or on slopes where strong support is needed. Coir wattles are lightly-packed to filter sediment and should be used in sediment control applications.

Applications of coir wattles:
Completely biodegradable coir wattles are excellent to filter sediment in curb inlets.

Curb inlet protection
Completely biodegradable coir wattles are excellent check dams. Filter sediment effectively.

Coir wattle check dams
Flexible and completely biodegradable coir wattles are excellent for perimeter sediment control.

Perimeter sediment control with coir wattles
Coir wattles are excellent devices to break the water flow velocities in steep slope restorations.

Coir wattles on steep slopes
Flexible coir wattles can be successfully use for sediment control in all inlets.

Coir wattles in grade inlet protection
Coir wattles can be use for sediment control on shorelines.

Advantages:
- Efficient sediment retention. Coir fiber is an excellent filtering medium. Lightly-packed coir fiber allows water to go through it freely while filtering sediment from storm water.
- Completely wildlife safe. Contain no plastic nets and not palatable for wildlife.
- Coir wattles comes with strong durable bristle coir twine netting. Coir twine used in the coir wattles has 90 lbs. strength.
- Extremely flexible coir wattles are easy to install and to maintain.
- 100% natural and biodegradable. Coir wattles can be cleaned and reuse when they are used on paved catch basins.
- Personal satisfaction with preventing soil loss and protecting aquatic resources.
- Easy to cut and join to any desired length.
- Can be used for streambank restorations in low velocity streams
- Only material cost, no removal or disposal costs!
