BioD-Medium™, coir pith (dust), is a natural, biodegradable by-product from the coconut fiber industry. The best soilless medium for complete organic gardening, hydroponic gardening, reptile bedding and has many other uses. coir pith (dust) is the leftover fine coir particles after extraction of fiber from freshwater cured coconut husks. After extraction of fiber, coir pith is stored in open air before using. Exposure to natural conditions, rain in particular, weathers coir dust and reduces its salinity and conductivity. Aged coir pith has properties suitable for promoting seed germination plant growth. An excellent natural by-product from the coconut industry and a renewable natural resource.
A 50% increase in root growth has been observed in many plants when they are grown in coir dust soilless mediums. A higher rose production can be achieved using coir dust soilless medium. BioD-Medium, soilless medium, is available in several forms and they are 11 lbs. block, 22 lbs. bale and 2 oz. disk. The 22 lbs. bales are available in less than 10% moisture as well as 40% moisture. Coir pith is also an excellent reptile bedding, medium for worm cultures and also insulation medium for plant over wintering. RoLanka’s BioD-Medium is completely organic.
Growing native plants in coir pith for restoration is getting very popular every day. This is a soilless potting soil for complete organic gardening.
