BioD-Mat® 70

Woven bristle coir soil erosion control blanket

BioD-Mat® 70 blanket is completely biodegradable and does not contain any synthetic materials to harm wildlife.

RoLanka’s BioD-Mat® 70 soil erosion control blanket is engineered from machine-spun bristle coir twines made from freshwater-retted coconut husks, providing superior strength, durability, and reduced acidity. BioD-Mat 70 is a woven bristle coir (coconut fiber) erosion-control blanket with a minimum weight of 780 g/m² (23 oz/SY). Because it is composed exclusively of high-quality bristle coir—rather than mixed or unretted fibers—BioD-Mat 70 provides superior strength, durability, and long-term performance compared to similar coir blankets. This semi-permanent, 100% biodegradable woven coir blanket delivers high initial resistance against erosion while supporting vegetation establishment and long-term site stability. The open weave also enables reseeding and planting before or after installation without cutting the mat. The 0.5 in x 0.5 in opening in the blanket allows planting plugs through the blanket without cutting the blanket. The 9.84 ft. (3m) and 13.1 ft. (4m) wide blankets have one seam in the mat.

With a functional field longevity of 4–6 years, BioD-Mat® 70 blanket offer performance levels beyond the design limits of many other biodegradable erosion control blankets.

Recommendation for choosing a woven coir blanket.

When selecting and specifying woven coir mats, designers should not only consider the unit weight, but also the wet tensile strengths, coir type, open area as well as machine direction and cross direction twine counts.
