BioD-Mat 90

Woven bristle coir soil erosion control blanket.

BioD-Mat® 90 blanket is a completely biodegradable soil erosion control blanket and does not contain any synthetic materials to harm wildlife.

Strongest natural fiber blanket available in the market for severe erosion situations.

BioD-Mat® 90 erosion control blanket is woven from machine-spun bristle coir twines. Its unit weight is 980 g/sq. m. It is the strongest natural fiber blanket in the market. This semi-permanent 100% biodegradable, strong and durable bristle coir woven blanket provides higher resistance upon installation while supporting growth and development of vegetation. BioD-Mat® 90 blanket has field functional longevity of 4-6 years. This blanket allows designers and specifiers to go beyond the design limits of other types of organic erosion control blankets for tough erosion problems. This strong, durable, and biodegradable blanket plays an important role in soil bioengineering applications, steep slope restorations and high velocity flow channels. The open weave in the BioD-Mat® 90 blanket allows reseeding before and after installation, when necessary. Also, the 0.3 in x 0.5 in opening in the blanket allows planting plugs through the blanket without cutting the blanket. The independently moving coir twines in the blanket allow easy wildlife movement through the mat, thus it is completely safe for wildlife.  The 9.8 ft. and 13 ft. wide blankets have one seam in the mat.

Recommendation for choosing a woven coir blanket.

When selecting and specifying woven coir mats, designers should not only consider the unit weight, but also the wet tensile strengths, coir type, open area as well as machine direction and cross direction twine counts.
